Laos

The idyll is deceptive. Laos is poor and neglected, governed by a military junta since 1975. More bombs fell on Laos during the Vietnam War than on Vietnam itself. Uncleared minefields, in addition to poverty and a difficult political situation, are a literal high-explosive that still kills or cripples people.

THRIVING RESULTS
Harvest centers teach farmers the basics of agriculture: high-yield cultivation of rice, vegetables and fruit, and the breeding of chickens, pigs, fish, mushrooms and more. Around 80 people are trained each year, and the changes are evident!
