Ethiopia - Children sponsorship

We support more than 3,000 children and their families through nineteen sponsorship projects. The sponsorships are a kind of "parachute" so that the kids and their families do not fall unchecked into poverty and lack of prospects.

Through the sponsorships, we pay the school fees, supply the children with school materials and provide the obligatory school uniform. After graduation, we cover the costs of vocational training or provide scholarships to enable the children to study, depending on their talents.

Within the framework of family assistance, we provide individual support and medical care as needed. In addition, we provide monthly food aid and regular supplies of hygiene articles. Self-help groups teach people how to manage their finances. Through the granting of micro-credits, what has been learned can be put into practice and be the first step towards self-employment. This is how help for self-help is provided.
